Who would have thought that boxed rosé from a plastic cup would taste so good! Nibbles are freshly picked tomatoes, apricots, pears presented in wooden crates fresh from the farm ...I did not quite fathom the word vernissage until I asked God! Traditionally Vernissage (varnish) referred to the final varnish an artist might put on his paintings the day before the opening, developing into what is now the opening celebration.
Meet Laura extraordinaire! Powerhouse woman of the world. Gallerist, writer, artist, reviewer. From London doing port folio reviews here as part of the festivals.
Together we have visited exhibitions, projections, lectures and discussions. Completely madsdoggesteverest!

This work was created in 1915 to illustrate an article that was actually never published. Children acting out the Great War in the streets of Paris whilst their fathers were possibly NOT acting out.
I was confused by the amount of reference to war, China, propaganda and collections of war photos... I was beginning to think it was a bit much and that European art was a bit anchored in war porn......until I had the realisation that it is 100 years since 1914!
Nights of Photography are projections set to live music and held in the Theâtre Antique,
Went to a round table discussion: Is Amatuer Photography Part of the History of Photography. Loved that toooooooooo. Vik Muniz was one of the artists on the panel so I think I went just to see him. Groupie! Great dialogue about the recovery of amateur photographs and the pre digital age.
Another artist that I am loving is Chema Madoz from Spain. Surrealist contemporary black and white photos. Excellent.
Wait there is more...... French bread anyone?
Saving the best till last is Vee's show, but I need to devote an entire blog post to that maddog night of nights!!
